The Atlantic Regatta | In this international regatta, the goal is to try and get your MiniBoat to completely circle the North Atlantic Ocean.  Boats are expected to make 3 or 4 stops on their journey, offering marine science and inter-cultural activities.  Beginning in 2016, this regatta has become an annual event.  So far, schools from the following countries have participated: Belgium, Canada, the Canary Islands, Ireland, Portugal, and the United States.  Click here for more information.

The Pacific Challenge | This challenge is a collaborative effort to get your MiniBoat across the Pacific Ocean.  Boats launched off the United States west coast will hypothetically pass through the California, to the North Equatorial, to the Kuroshio, and the North Pacific currents.  This event is a result of discussions between Xiamen University in China, the University of Maine, and Educational Passages.  All Pacific Rim institutions and schools are invited to join this international event. Great Cape Launches | Join us as we launch our MiniBoats off the world’s three greatest capes: Cape Horn, Cape Leeuwin, and Cape of Good Hope.  This will test our MiniBoat’s seaworthiness and capabilities in the world’s strongest winds and roughest seas. It will also help us prepare for Magellan’s 500th Year Celebration Festivities where we will join many other Maritime organizations and see if we can get a MiniBoat to circumnavigate the world. The Great Lakes Regatta | Students in Canada and the United States explore their region by tracking these boats around all five Great Lakes.  This event will connect students in eight US states and the Canadian province of Ontario.  We encourage students and educators to add sensors to their MiniBoats to collect and compare additional data.
