At Educational Passages, we acknowledge the burdens placed on educators and aim to make this program’s implementation seamless. From classrooms to clubs, we help educators build, launch, and recover miniboats. We provide educational content and resources, and are available to help with any stage of your program.

“The trick to education is to teach people in such a way that they don’t realize they’re learning until it’s too late.”
Harold "Doc" Edgerton, ScD
Global Ocean Literacy
Educational Passages pursues a world where all students understand and protect the ocean. Through oceanography, students learn physics, chemistry, biology, geology, climatology, meteorology, and environmental science. Through hands-on activities and meaningful opportunities, ocean literate students are enlightened and empowered. We offer an engaging platform for classrooms and professional support for you, the educator.
Engaging Students
Our program uses a hands-on approach to captivate students of all ages. We achieve student buy-in through the construction and personalization of a miniboat. We maintain their interest through our active boat map and online tools as they follow their vessel along ocean currents. Throughout the experience, students will be exposed to oceanic phenomena and will be prepared to interact with classrooms across the sea.
The 6 Es of Science
Traditionally, educators use the 5 Es of Science to guide their lesson planning: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. Educational Passages has added a sixth E to our lessons: Empower. The empowerment piece sets the context for student action planning. At the end of our program, we advise educators to facilitate real-world action to turn students into citizen scientists with the hope of empowering the next generation of ocean ambassadors.
