As we ‘March’ forward to Spring, we are still trying to navigate all that happened in February.
It started strong, but after a few weeks in, we received notice of “termination for the Government’s convenience” of our BOEM-funded project — cutting $18,000 from our operating budget. Now, we must raise $43,000 in 2025 to keep our doors open.
The hardest hit? Our community partners in Alaska. The Boys & Girls Club in Ketchikan won’t launch their miniboat. Seldovia will miss out entirely. Our connections in Homer will weaken.
We need your help to add strength:

Pictured above: At the beginning of March, Cassie (right) drove to Maryland to advance low-cost ocean tech in education with Andrew Thaler (Oceanography for Everyone and OpenCTD, left) and Wayne Pavalko (WRG, LLC, Maker Buoy, and our miniboat sensor packs, middle). The gathering was inspired by the BOEM-funded SEAOTECH (Student Engineers Advancing Ocean Technology) project.
