    The miniboat Lester Bell was deployed in late October 2016.

  • Summer 2017 - Caught in the Gulf Stream finally

    It had a slow start before finally being caught in the Gulf Stream in the Summer of 2017.

  • September 2019 - No longer reporting

    After almost 3 full years at sea, the GPS of the miniboat Lester Bell sent its last signal on September 28, 2019.

    VOYAGE STATS

    On this first voyage, the miniboat Lester Bell sailed for >36,622 km (19,775 nm) in 1068 days from dropsite in October 2016 to its last reported position on September 28, 2019. 

    In a straight line the distance was only 4,126 km (2,228 nm).

    The average speed was 0.78 knots and was fastest on January 19, 2017 when it was sailing at 3.68 knots!
